Medicare Coverage

Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program

The BRIDGE program is a temporary program that gives eligible Medicare enrollees access to certain weight-loss medications for a flat monthly copayment.

It runs through December 31, 2027. Medicare has not yet announced what will happen on January 1, 2028.

Eligibility

  • Actively enrolled in Medicare Part D, or a Medicare Advantage plan with prescription drug coverage
  • At least 18 years oldand meeting one BMI criterion below
  • BMI 35 or higher at the start of GLP-1 therapy
  • BMI 30 or higherwith HFpEF, uncontrolled hypertension (on two medications), or CKD stage 3a or above
  • BMI 27 or higherwith pre-diabetes (A1c 5.7 or fasting blood sugar over 100), prior heart attack, prior stroke, or symptomatic peripheral artery disease

  • Wegovyinjectable and tablets

  • Foundayotablets
No additional coupons may be used to lower the price below $50.

The Process

  • Operates outside standard Medicare Part D rules
  • Medicare uses Humana to handle the prior authorization for approval
  • Once approved, the $50 copay applies for covered medications
