Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program

The BRIDGE program is a temporary program that gives eligible Medicare enrollees access to certain weight-loss medications for a flat $50 monthly copayment. 

It runs through December 31, 2027, and Medicare has not announced what will come on January 1, 2028.

    • You must be actively enrolled in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription drug coverage.

    • You must be at least 18 years old and meet at least one of following criteria: 

    • BMI ≥35 at the time of initiation of GLP-1 therapy

    • BMI ≥30 at the time of initiating GLP-1 therapy with a diagnosis of one or more of the following: 

      • (A) heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

      • (B) uncontrolled high blood pressure (despite treatment with two blood pressure medications)

      • (C) chronic kidney disease stage 3a or above

    • BMI ≥27 at the time of initiating GLP-1 therapy with a diagnosis of one or more of the following: 

      • (A) pre-diabetes (A1c at 5.7 OR fasting blood sugar >100)

      •  (B) previous heart attack

      • (C) previous stroke

      • (D) symptomatic peripheral artery disease

    • Wegovy (injectable and tablets)

    • Zepbound (KwikPen)

    • Foundayo tablets

    • The BRIDGE program operates outside standard Medicare Part D rules. 

    • Medicare will use Humana to handle the prior authorization to obtain approval.

    • No additional coupons may be used to lower the price below $50.
